We’re going to hold your hand when we say this: It’s time to put the nose hair trimmer down. There’s an easier, cleaner, and way less tedious solution — waxing. And while waxing nose hair might feel taboo (or maybe even a little TMI), we’re here for it. We believe even the smallest details can make a big difference in how you feel (a good nose wax being one of them).
We’ll cover:
- The benefits of waxing nose hair
- At-home products vs. professional hair removal
- What to do before a nose wax
- What to expect during your appointment
- How to protect your results (and your nostrils!) after you leave the studio
The (unexpected) benefits of nose hair waxing
Getting a nose wax does so much more than remove hair from your nostrils. It turns a routine grooming task into a confidence-boosting ritual with results that actually last. Here are a few examples.
A cleaner appearance
You know that feeling when you’ve just tweezed your nose (ow!) and a new hair pops up the next day? Ugh. We get it — nose hair removal can feel like a constant uphill battle. Trimmers never seem to get it all, and tweezers are downright painful. However, nose waxing removes hair evenly so all your hairs grow back at a similar rate (aka no more stragglers or strays that stick out). This also means you don’t have to worry about nose hair removal as often!
Long-lasting results
A nose wax might leave you saying, “I can smell colors!” (our legal department wants you to know that’s not guaranteed). But you will notice feeling like you’ve never taken a clearer breath, with a side of hair-free confidence. And unlike other hair removal techniques, nose waxing gets hairs at the root, meaning they take longer to grow back — and your results last longer.
Slower, finer regrowth
With regular appointments, waxing can make hair grow back slower, lighter, and less dense. Translation: easier maintenance and consistent results over and over again.
At-home products vs. professional wax — which is best?
At-home wax kits can provide a temporary solution for nose hair grooming, but let’s be real. At-home products for nose hair removal are tedious, painful, and make it hard to control the temperature — and they don’t produce the same smooth, even results as a professional wax.
Plus, the tiny hairs in your nose (known as cilia) have a few important jobs: acting as an air filter, keeping your nose from drying out, and even being the first line of defense for your immune system. So, removing them requires careful technique (you don’t want to remove too many or go too deep — ouch!).
For waxing, it’s best to leave it to the pros. That’s where we come in. Our Cerologists are trained in specialized hair removal techniques to maximize your results without harming your nostrils.
How to prep for a nose wax
Our wax technicians are here to deliver your smoothest, most comfortable wax yet — but for best results, waxing prep starts before you arrive at the studio! Keep these tips in mind for your appointment:
- Make sure your hair is long enough. Hair should be at least ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice) for best results.
- Avoid nasal products 24 hours ahead of your appointment. Stop using allergy sprays and other nasal products to avoid irritation.
- Take a pain reliever. If pain is a concern for you, take a pain reliever like ibuprofen about 30 minutes before your appointment.
- Keep your skin hydrated. Maintain a consistent moisturizing routine and postpone waxing if the area is dry, chapped, or you have cracked skin from harsh weather or a recent cold.
What to expect at your nose waxing appointment

Our Cerologists take special care when waxing sensitive areas like the nose. Here are the steps they follow at each appointment:
- Prep: First, your Cerologist will ask you to blow your nose to make sure the application area is clean and free of unwanted debris (wink, wink).
- Application: Next, our signature hard wax is applied to the inside of one nostril with a waxing stick. Note: Wax is only applied to the inner edge of the nose.
- Removal: Your Cerologist will firmly but gently pull the wax out and repeat the process on the other side.
Does waxing nose hair hurt?
We thought you’d never ask! (Just kidding, we knew.) We won’t sugarcoat it — there’s a quick moment of discomfort when waxing nose hairs, but pain levels vary from person to person. That’s why we recommend taking a pain reliever before your appointment. However, it’s over in seconds and the pain typically passes quickly. Unlike tweezing (which is basically a slow torture sitation), nose waxing is one-and-done. Most people are surprised by how fast and manageable it is.
What to do after a nose wax
Waxing aftercare is just as important as prep. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Keep the area clean. To prevent infection and irritation, regularly wash the area around your nose with mild soap and water or facial cleanser.
- Keep your hands off. Avoid touching the waxed area to prevent bacteria, oil, and dirt from entering your pores and follicles.
- Avoid heat. Skip the steamy showers, saunas, and swimming for at least 24 hours while your skin is extra sensitive.
- Allow enough time between waxes. Hair needs time to regrow — it’s best to wait four to six weeks between nose waxing appointments.
