How to prepare for your nose waxing service.

skin exfoliation

We recommend that you exfoliate the area a day or two prior to your appointment. Thoroughly clean the area, keeping the skin moist but not greasy from heavy moisturizers, serums, or oils.

LET IT GROW

Hair should be 1/4″ to 1/2” long for effective waxing. For most people, this means waiting 2-4 weeks (minimum of 2) from the last time you shaved.

SUN EXPOSURE

We recommend that you avoid extreme sun exposure for 48 hours before and after your wax. If you are getting a spray tan, we would recommend getting your tan 1-2 days after your wax. This will ensure your skin is hair-free and has had time to recover.

Nose waxing FAQ

Nose waxing is a cosmetic procedure aimed at removing unwanted hair from the inside of the nostrils using specialized wax. It provides a cleaner, longer-lasting solution compared to trimming or plucking.

  1. Once you’ve arrived at the wax studio, your Cerologist will show you to the room, where you’ll discuss what you want from your waxing service and answer any questions you may have.
  2. Your Cerologist will have you lie down then direct you through the waxing process so that they can remove any and all unwanted hair. They’ll do two passes per nostril.
  3. The entire waxing process will take 15 minutes or less.

Yes, when done correctly, nose waxing is safe. Our Cerologists use techniques and products that are specifically designed to avoid damaging the sensitive skin inside the nostrils. They expertly balance the aesthetic desire of hair removal with your overall nasal health.

The hairs in your nostrils serve as a natural filter for dust, pollen, and other airborne particles. Waxing the City’s nose hair removal services target the most visible hairs at the edge of the nostril. It’s essential to not over-wax and maintain some level of nasal hair for healthy filtering.

Similar to other waxing services, there may be slight discomfort or a quick moment of pain during the nose hair removal. However, the process is quick, and many find that waxing nose hairs is less painful than tweezing them.

At Waxing the City, both our wax and our hair removal technique work together to offer you the most comfortable service possible. If you’re still worried about managing sensitivity, we recommend taking an ibuprofen or aspirin roughly 30 minutes before your appointment to help maximize your comfort.

Pro tip: Waxing more frequently will help with sensitivity as hair grows back finer and sparser!

The best way to remove hair from the nose is through a gentle and precise method like waxing. Other options — such as plucking or trimming — can cause irritation, ingrown hairs, and uneven results.

Plucking or pulling nose hair is not recommended, as it can cause irritation, infection, and even lead to ingrown hairs. Waxing is a safer and more effective nose hair removal option.

The results can vary from person to person, but generally, nasal waxing can last about 4 weeks. Factors like hair growth rate and how regularly you wax can affect longevity. The time may be stretched to 5 and 6 weeks once the hair regrowth slows or thins out. That said, waxing is a process, and the more consistently you do it the better the results.

Expect regrowth quicker after the first wax, but with consistent waxing month after month, you will start to see the hair stay away for longer periods of time. Waxing lasts much longer than shaving, as shaving only cuts hair at the surface, while waxing removes the hair from the root.

We’d recommend getting a nose hair wax around every 4 weeks. Of course, it can vary depending how quickly your hair grows. Find more information on how often to schedule nose hair waxing appointments and other waxing services here.

Nope! This is a common misconception. Waxing does not affect the thickness or rate of hair growth. The new hairs that grow back may appear thicker due to the blunt tips from waxing, but this is temporary and will not alter your natural hair growth. In fact, waxing more frequently will help with sensitivity as hair grows back finer and sparser.

Waxing is a quick and efficient way to remove excess hair from the nostrils. It can leave you with smooth, clean nostrils for longer than other hair removal methods, like trimming or plucking. Nostril waxing also helps to remove the hair from deep within the pores, reducing the risk of ingrown hairs.

Ahead of your appointment, use a gentle cleanser or nasal rinse to clean your nostrils, which will help prevent any bacteria or dirt from being trapped in the pores.

  • Make sure to avoid heavy moisturizers, serums, or oils.
  • Don’t tweeze  before a wax, as it can irritate the skin, and of course, it will leave the hair too short to wax properly.
  • In order to ensure the most comfortable wax experience, we recommend that you avoid sun exposure for 48 hours before and after your wax.
  • Avoid drinking a big cup of coffee before your next service as caffeine can increase your sensitivity levels.
  • Bumps: Irritated skin may cause some bumps to appear, but they’ll likely go away on their own within hours or days. As part of your wax aftercare, try our Post Wax Serum to help soothe the skin if needed. Just ask your Cerologist to point you in the right direction.
  • Redness: Skin redness can disappear anywhere between a few minutes to a few days.
  • Itching: Try not to scratch. Itching usually occurs in between appointments when hair starts to grow back, but exfoliation can help.

Our licensed cosmetologists and estheticians are not only waxing and beauty specialists — they are the ultimate professionals at their craft. To reflect their expertise, we created our own name: Cerologist. Looking for the definition of a Cerologist? Cerologist combines cera (Latin for wax) with ologist (to indicate their waxing authority and education).
