How to prepare for your eyebrow tint.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

For at least 24 hours, avoid exfoliating around the eyebrow area.

For at least 72 hours, do not use retinol products around the eyebrow area to help avoid skin irritation.

DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

Avoid using oil-based makeup, makeup removers, or moisturizers, which can all interfere with the tint’s ability to bond effectively with your eyebrow hairs.

WHAT TO AVOID

For the first 24 hours, you should treat your eyebrows with care. Avoid:

  • Getting them wet
  • Steam baths or saunas
  • Oil-based face products

After 24 hours, strut your stuff! You can treat your brows as you normally would. All you’ll need to do in the morning is a quick brush with a spoolie. You will quite literally be able to say, “I woke up like this.”

Brow tinting FAQ

It’s best to come with clean, makeup-free brows. However, your Cerologist can wipe away any makeup that you do have on if needed. In the days leading up to your eyebrow tinting service:

  • Avoid exfoliating or using harsh skin treatments around the eyebrow area.
  • Avoid using oil-based makeup, makeup removers, or moisturizers before your appointment, as they can interfere with the tint’s ability to bond effectively with your brow hairs.

The eyebrow tinting service takes approximately 15 minutes. Come in during your lunch break!

At Waxing the City, eyebrow tinting is performed by applying a safe, semi-permanent dye to your brows. Our Cerologists use expert techniques to ensure even coverage and spectacular results. You can select from a variety of tints or have one custom-blended.

Here’s what to expect during your appointment:

  • Your Cerologist will help you determine what tint will best suit your complexion and desired look.
  • The Cerologist will softly cleanse the brows and surrounding area to remove any makeup or other residue.
  • The semi-permanent dye will be applied in small, natural strokes. The Cerologist will let the tint set for a few minutes. (For new clients, the Cerologist will do a patch test 24–48 hours before the service to assure the skin isn’t sensitive to the tint.)
  • Using cotton swabs, they’ll gently clean off the tint. If the color is not dark enough, another application may be necessary.

Eyebrow tints fade naturally and gradually after 2 to 4 weeks. Using oil-based face products (like makeup, makeup removers, or moisturizers) or swimming in chlorinated water may strip the color quicker. Your Cerologist will provide aftercare advice to help you maintain your tinted brows.

While eyebrow tinting does not physically thicken eyebrow hairs, it makes brows appear fuller and more defined. Tinting can color the finer, lighter hairs, creating an illusion of thicker brows.

Eyebrow tinting can create the appearance of fuller brows by darkening the finer, lighter hairs around and within sparse areas. However, it cannot fill in gaps where there are no hairs.

For the first 12–24 hours after your eyebrow tinting service, we recommend you avoid:

  • Exposing your brows to water — like in a shower, bath, or pool
  • Steam baths or saunas
  • Using oil-based products like makeup, makeup remover, or moisturizer

When you do shower, try to avoid directing high-pressure water directly onto your brows. Following these tips allows the tint to fully set, ensuring lasting results. After 24 hours, you can return to your normal routine, though gentle handling and minimal rubbing will help extend the life of your tint.

For your safety — and the best results — it’s a good idea to have your eyebrows tinted by a certified professional. Our experts are trained to apply the tint safely and effectively, preventing any potential harm to your skin or eyes and ensuring a stunning outcome. The Cerologist can customize the tint to meet specific needs and preferences!

Yes! A professional brow tint is safe when done by one of our trained and certified Cerologists. The treatment involves applying a gentle, plant-based dye to your brows.

Your eyebrow tint won’t usually darken overnight, but the color may appear more vibrant the following day as the dye fully sets into your brow hairs.

The main difference is in the formulation. Eyebrow tints are designed specifically for fine eyebrow hairs and sensitive skin around the eyes. Hair dye is formulated for the scalp hair and can be too harsh and potentially dangerous for use around the eyes.

The average price of the Eyebrow Tinting service is $25. Prices and services vary by location, so let’s find the Waxing the City location nearest you.
