The beauty of waxing is knowing you’ll be hair-free for a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks following your wax appointment. That said, waxing is a process, and the more consistently you do it the better the results. Expect quicker regrowth in the waxed area after the first treatment, but month after month you will start to see the hair stay away for longer periods of time. 

It lasts much longer than shaving, as shaving only removes the external portion of hair, while waxing removes the entire hair in one piece. On average, we recommend getting a Brazilian wax about every 4 weeks.

Hair that’s longer than 1/2” can make waxing more complicated, as it’s prone to breakage when waxed off for first-timers. This means the follicle won’t be removed and your results won’t last as long. Long hair can also cover up other hairs during a wax, which requires repeated waxes of the same area. We suggest hair be 1/4″ to 1/2” long for effective waxing.

Here are a few things to keep in mind before a men’s Brazilian waxing session: 

• Make sure to avoid heavy lotions or oils in the area you’re having waxed. 
• Avoid shaving the area you’re planning to have waxed, as it can irritate the skin, and of course, it will leave the hair too short to wax properly. 
• In order to ensure the most comfortable wax experience, we recommend that you avoid sun exposure for 48 hours before and after your waxing service. 
• Avoid drinking a big cup of coffee before your next waxing service, as caffeine can increase your sensitivity levels.

If you’re getting a spray tan, we recommend doing so after your waxing service. Doing so before might result in removal of the color from your skin, leaving it splotchy and irritated. 

Wear whatever will make you comfortable during your wax. However, underwear with the least amount of coverage is recommended. We encourage you to leave your top-shelf underwear at home to avoid getting any wax on your favorite pair. We also provide complimentary disposable underwear if you’d prefer — just ask your Cerologist!

Certain health medications, isotretinoin, or tretinoin (aka retinoic acid) can thin your skin, causing potential for tearing during a Brazilian wax or other hair removal treatment. Let your Cerologist know if you’re taking or applying any prescriptions.

There are a few things you might see in the pubic and buttocks region post-Brazilian wax treatment, and they’re totally normal! These include:

• Bumps: Irritated skin may cause some bumps to appear, but they’ll likely go away on their own within hours or days. As part of your Brazilian wax aftercare, try post-Brazilian wax serum to help soothe the skin if needed. Just ask your Cerologist to point you in the right direction.
• Redness: Skin redness can disappear anywhere between a few minutes to a few days.
• Itching: Try not to scratch. Try skin care products like aloe vera gel or Fur® Oil to help soothe the skin.
• Stubble or ingrown hairs: Everyone’s hair grows in different cycles, so it’s possible that hairs below the skin’s surface may sprout after your Brazilian wax. Sometimes, dry or brittle hair can break during a Brazilian wax service, so be sure to keep everything moisturized .To help prevent ingrown hairs (or further skin irritation), we recommend using our Post Wax Serum or ingrown hair exfoliating pads.
